Cape Bernier Vineyard is a family-owned boutique wine producer. Our site on the East Coast of southern Tasmania is cool and maritime. With our easterly views towards New Zealand and northerly aspect for the vines, are bathed in abundant sunshine and cooling sea breezes.

We specialise in several varieties which do extremely well here. Pinot Gris just loves this site, Chardonnay develops intense citrus flavours and Pinot Noir looks toward the sun to develop its best. Our Cabernet Merlot is produced from fruit purchased from a southern Tasmanian site more suited to these varieties.

Each of these four wines have won medals - in fact Cape Bernier has won medals in every year since our first vintage in 2004. From Gold to Silver and Bronze. Our current Chardonnay 2008 has been awarded Siler Medals in the last two Shows - the 2009 Royal Hobart International and the 2010 Tasmanian Wine Show. It has also been rated at 93 pts as one of the top two Chardannays in Australia in Wine Business Magazine January 2010 Issue.

James Halliday rates Cape Bernier as a "five-star" winery in his latest "Australian Wine Companion 2010" and in particular both our major varieties, Pinot Noir 2007 and Chardonnay 2007 are rated 94 pts!
