Coonawarra Wineries and Vineyards
The Coonawarra wine region is located in South Australia's Limestone Coast Zone and sits on the Victorian border almost 4 hours drive south east of Adelaide. The wine region sits on a ridge 59 metres above sea level and enjoys a Mediterranean climate.
Coonawarra is world famous for its Terra Rossa, a red-brown topsoil laid over a thin layer of calcrete. It is no wonder that this soil combined with numerous dedicated winemakers have helped make Coonawarra region one of Australia's finest.
The region is most well known for its Cabernet Sauvignon however there are many other key reds to this region including Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir and Shiraz. Whites of this region include Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.
