Lake Alexandria is Australia's biggest permanent freshwater lake and natural flood plain. The rich soils of the region and the almost perfect climate make Langhorne Creek an ideal viticultural area. The Cabernet Sauvignon produced here is the most distinctive of the region. Other varieties grown here include Chardonnay, Grenache, Merlot, Sangiovese, Shiraz and Verdelho.
