James Halliday 4 Star Winery 2009 Wine Companion

Schiller Vineyards have been producing fine wines for over a decade; however the Schiller family have grown grapes for six generations since 1864 at their Light Pass estate in the heart of the Barossa Valley. Each year vigneron Matthew Schiller and winemaker Neville Falkenberg select small parcels of premium fruit for the Schiller Vineyards label. The wines are lovingly handcrafted using traditional varieties expressing superb regional character. Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon is blended into the flagship wine the ‘Stonetrain’, this wine is uniquely bottle aged in the 1860’s Schiller homestead cellar before commercial release. The current release vintage 2001, a high silver medal winning wine is eight years old, perfect time to pop the cork on the Stonetrain. The Shiraz/Grenache wine is an easy drinking fruit driven style for any occasion, and the latest edition to the Schiller wine portfolio is the 2006 Barossa Shiraz. This varietal wine is a quintessential Barossa style with beautiful rich fruit flavours.

Schiller Vineyards wines are very exclusive with approximately 500 cases made collectively each vintage. These special handcrafted boutique wines are available at www.schillervineyards.com.au mail order.
